In this review, we will learn more regarding this microorganism of great importance in periodontal diseases.Dentro de los microorganismos que forman el complejo rojo, considerado por Socransky, se encuentran algunas bacterias agresivas, como la Tannerella forsythia, esta es un bacilo anaerobio estricto, presente en la enfermedad periodontal, debido a su factor de virulencia, y a su capacidad de subsistir en condiciones óptimas en la bolsa periodontal, esta a su vez estimula la activación de mediadores de la inflamación, que con la cronicidad de la enfermedad daña de manera progresiva el periodonto.
