Descripción
Sumario:The essay aims to show that the “first Quijano” of the 1960s adopted an attitude of suspicion in the face of the ideological bias of the North American social sciences, that were implemented in the universities of the “Third World” countries, in the context of the institutionalization of sociology, as a scientific discipline that carries the promise of social change. This attitude of suspicion was translated into the use of the Marxian notion of “ideology” as a tool for criticizing the colonial / imperialist orientation of the social sciences. Which suggests and reveals a certain “thematic unity” linked to a type of sociology that we call the “sociology of suspicion”. This sociology has a preparatory character and was developed between 1962 and 1965. However, it was prolonged and reappeared in other contexts, as it was part of a broader theoretical project of “epistemological decolonization”, proposed by the “last Quijano” in the 90’s.
