For this, it will be based on informative reports, journalistic comments and official speeches to understand the scope of the legal project in the festive proposal, public participation and interest in one hundred years of Trujillo’s independence. It is concluded that, although the influence of legality was indirect, aspects such as the renewal of its independence symbols and paternalism through the landowner were maintained.En este trabajo se analiza cómo se desarrolló del centenario de Trujillo (1920) durante los primeros años del gobierno leguiista, donde sus notorias reformas institucionales y el planteamiento de la «Patria Nueva» condicionaron su planteamiento, transcurso y recepción. Para ello se partirá de reportes informativos, comentarios periodísticos y discursos oficiales para comprender el alcance del proyecto leguiista en la propuesta festiva, la participación pública y el interés por cien años de independencia de Trujillo.
