The first was the one who facilitated the establishment of the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) and the second, was the founder of that institution in Yarinacocha (Pucallpa, Peru). SIL was created in the mid-thirties. First were instructed Wycliffe Bible Translators, and then SIL translators were instructed by initiative of Richard and William Cameron Townsend Legster, respectively. These institutions were dependent of the Southern Baptist Church-USA. The aim was to prepare young people to send them to more than two thousand tribes arround the world so they can have some knowledge of the Bible, Christian hymns and literature. Also translated the New Testament in their own language.La presente investigación versa sobre la relación epistolar que mantuvieron Luis E. Varcárcel, William Cameron Townsend1 (Tío Kam), Elaine, su esposa, y Margot, hija del ilustre Amauta. El primero fue quien facilitó el establecimiento del Instituto Lingüístico de Verano (ILV) y, el segundo, fue el fundador de dicha institución en Yarinacocha (Pucallpa, Perú). El ILV se creó a mediados de los años treinta. Primero se creó Traductores de la Biblia Wycliffe y después el ILV, por iniciativa de Richard Legster y William Cameron Townsend, respectivamente. Estas instituciones fueron dependientes de la Iglesia Bautista del Sur en los Estados Unidos. La finalidad era preparar jóvenes para enviarlos a más de dos mil tribus del mundo para que se pueda tener nociones de la Biblia, himnos cristianos y literatura.
