Descripción
Sumario:The present investigation is about the relationship Through Correspondence that kept Luis E. Varcarcel, William Cameron Townsend (Uncle Kam), Elaine (his wife) and Margot, daughter of the William. The first was the one who facilitated the establishment of the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) and the second, was the founder of that institution in Yarinacocha (Pucallpa, Peru). SIL was created in the mid-thirties. First were instructed Wycliffe Bible Translators, and then SIL translators were instructed by initiative of Richard and William Cameron Townsend Legster, respectively. These institutions were dependent of the Southern Baptist Church-USA. The aim was to prepare young people to send them to more than two thousand tribes arround the world so they can have some knowledge of the Bible, Christian hymns and literature. Also translated the New Testament in their own language.
