EditorialEditorialPacheco Romero, JoséEntitled you suffering doctors really more fatigued? (Are physicians really more burned out?) Appears an article in Medscape reports that nearly half (46%) of the nearly 20,000 American physicians who responded to a survey Medscape 2015 on lifestyle said they were 'tired' ( burned out). The depletion occurred in 30% to 65% of physicians according to specialty (1). The highest rates presented her primary care physicians, emergency medicine and critical care. Another national survey published in the Archives of Internal Medicine 2012 found that American doctors suffer more exhaustion than other types of American workers (2). And this fatigue begin very early in the race, since the residence (3). And what are the implications of burnout in physicians? It has been found higher rates of depression, labor disputes, lower levels of job satisfaction and possible negative effects on patient care (4). Although there is not much information, but previous studies suggest that the rate of suicide in physicians is at least double that of the general population, what we witnessed during medical studies in North America. The article notes that it is unclear that suicide is related to job stress in physicians, but it may be the ultimate indicator of fatigue and stress. The theme invites to know how this fatigue was impacting the Peruvian doctor.
