The present work is a document containing the reasons for the use of a landfill , restrictions and criteria for the selection of an area. Also summarizes the lessons learned in the areas proposed for landfill for the municipalities that were assessed as feasible areas in the various departments of Peru like Arequipa , Apurimac , Huancavelica , Ayacucho , Cusco , Junín , Lima, Ancash , Lambayeque , La Libertad, San Martín , Loreto, Piura and Tumbes.El área para relleno sanitario es un espacio físico que tiene condición técnico ambiental y no demanda elevados costos para la ejecución del proyecto, porque se aprovechan los elementos físicos de la naturaleza. La factibilidad de uso de área para relleno sanitario se sustenta en la evaluación geológico ambiental, lo cual significa fijar todos los aspectos técnico ambientales: ubicación, accesibilidad, topografía, condiciones geológicas, climáticas, hidrológicas superficiales y subterráneas, seguridad física; y los aspectos condicionantes: seguridad aérea, integridad de los recursos naturales y bienes culturales, infraestructura existente, los proyectos de desarrollo urbano, regional y nacional, entre otros. El presente trabajo es un documento que contiene las razones para el uso de un relleno sanitario, las restricciones y los criterios para la selección de un área.
