Descripción
Sumario:In the middle of 19th century, Chinese people were brought to Peru in order to fix the scarcity of labor force. They arrived at a closed society where were forced to live in vulnerable and marginal conditions. After some decades, gradually they built a community integrated to the Peruvian society. The high social mobility of Chinese people, even higher than the native habitant one, as a result of many specific measures adopted to deal with the official social power strategy is the main conclusion of this article. This kind of behaviors explains why nowadays Chinese people constitute an immigrant group deeply rooted in the Peruvian society in contrast to others.
