| Sumario: | The humor of Lima's street comedians is an important part of Peruvian popular culture. Their humorous discourse has been studied as a reflection of daily customs, especially those of low-income sectors. Their jokes may include rude expressions of which insults have been identified that, conventionally, are highly offensive. However, knowledge about the types of rude expressions they use has not been addressed from a linguistic and pragmatic approach. In the present research, we aim to identify 1) the types of swear words in the humorous discourse of Lima's street comedians, 2) their function as unmotivated insults and 3) the use of analogy and intensification strategies. For this purpose, we will analyze a corpus made up of 17 monologic and dialogic units that were previously extracted and organized from 14 videos from the YouTube platform. We conclude that street comedians make use of simulated rudeness through marked and unmarked direct insults, indirect insults, and the strategy of false analogy. Likewise, they use reactive rudeness with direct and marked insults, and the strategy of intensification. |
