Also, it is denoted an approach to the visual sources that brother Bernardo may have used for the composition of this painting. Furthermore, in light of the recent discovery, it is disassociated of the homonymous canvas that remains in the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru, from the series of eight canvases that Bernardo Bitti painted for the Jesuit church in Cuzco. In addition, through file documents, particularly the manuscript signed by himself containing the statement of his last vows, a more accurate chronology of the two stays of the painter camerte in said city is proposed.El presente artículo tiene por objetivo principal realizar un análisis iconográfico e iconológico de la obra Oración en el huerto del pintor jesuita Bernardo Bitti, perteneciente a la única serie de ocho lienzos que se conserva de su autoría sobre Losprincipales Misterios de la vida y muerte de Cristo nuestro Salvador y de la Virgen Santísima su madre, que pintó para la iglesia del colegio de la Transfiguración en el Cuzco a fines del siglo XVI y que actualmente se encuentra ubicada en la iglesia Santo Tomás de Aquino en el distrito de Rondocan, provincia de Acomayo, Cuzco1 Se propone, también, una aproximación a las fuentes visuales a las que posiblemente el hermano Bernardo haya recurrido para la composición de este cuadro. Asimismo, a la luz del reciente hallazgo, se desvincula el cuadro homónimo que alberga el Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú, de la serie de ocho lienzos que pintó Bernardo Bitti para la iglesia jesuita de Cuzco.
