Stanley Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, school way, and the Assertive Conduct Self-report (ADCA-1) by García and Magaz were used as instruments. The present research was a descriptive, correlational design.The results shown a positive and significant relation between self-esteem and assertiveness in students from both schools.La presente investigación tiene como propósito determinar la relación entre la autoestima y la asertividad en estudiantes de 1° a 4° año de educación secundaria de un colegio estatal y particular de un sector del distrito de Santa Anita de la Provincia y Departamento de Lima. La muestra estuvo conformada por 220 estudiantes: entre ellos 106 varones y 114 mujeres, entre 11 a 15 años de edad, de 1° a 4° año de secundaria de ambos colegios.
