Based on the analysis of the mathematical actions, the activation of the semiotic, instrumental and discursive genesis is evidenced, being the semiotic and discursive genesis the most frequent. Likewise, the activation of two vertical planes, the semiotic-discursive and the instrumental-discursive of the ETM, is evidencedEl presente reporte de investigación, presenta un recorte de la tesis de maestría del primer autor;tiene como objetivo analizar el trabajo matemático de estudiantes de carreras de humanidades cuando resuelven una tarea sobre función exponencial. Para ello, nos fundamentamos en la teoría del Espacio de Trabajo Matemático (ETM) y tomamos el método del ETM para el análisis. La investigación se realizó con estudiantes del primer ciclo de carreras de humanidades (16 y 18 años) de una universidad privada de Lima-Perú, en la que se elaboró una tarea sobre función exponencial. En base al análisis de las acciones matemáticas, se evidencia laactivación de las génesis semiótica, instrumental y discursiva, siendo las génesis semiótica y discursiva las más frecuentes.
