Descripción
Sumario:HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks the body's immune system. If HIV is not treated it can cause AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). To date there is no effective cure. Once you get HIV, you have it for life. However, with proper medical care, it can be controlled. People with HIV infection who receive effective treatment can live long, healthy lives. The objective of this scientific, historical and reflective review is to understand the main events in these 40 years of the discovery of the human immunodeficiency virus. In the first part we will learn about some of these milestones in detail, such as: Who initiated studies and publications on HIV? Who won the Nobel Prize for discovering HIV? media impact, among others. In the discussion you will learn details of the progress in vaccination and why to date we do not have an effective vaccine, some prevention alternatives with antiretrovirals in people at risk of infection and the challenges that still persist despite so many years. Knowing the main events surrounding HIV is essential to continue fighting this virus.
