Sumario: | The purpose of this research was to establish a relationship between parenting styles and emotional regulation by evaluating 267 adolescents aged 13 to 19 years of secondary school in an educational center in the district of Villa el Salvador, Lima. With a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional non-experimental design and correlational scope. The parenting styles scale and the emotional regulation questionnaire were applied. The results indicate that the parenting style that most predominates among adolescents is the authoritative one, with 201 participants, followed by the mixed one with 32, the permissive one with 21, the authoritarian one with 11 and the negligent one with 2. Likewise, 44.6% of Schoolchildren present a medium level of emotional regulation. Furthermore, it was observed that greater psychological autonomy is related to better emotional self-regulation strategies. This confirms that there is a relationship between both variables and allows us to specify that an adequate parenting style is associated with higher levels of emotional regulation. |
