Documentary research was used, examining works by other authors and theoretical postulates related to the subject. Likewise, a descriptive research type was carried out. Content analysis and hermeneutics were constituted as processes for the analysis of data and information. The results showed that there are several types of innovative projects that arise from ideas to seek to solve a problem, improve a product or service. For this reason, the innovative ecological project that seeks to develop knowledge committed to the preservation of the natural and environmental heritage was highlighted. It was concluded that with R+D+i+e projects, the university institution wants to transfer the understanding of the current state of water sources to assess what the State and indigenous communities can do together through the projects. ecological, transforming the procedures of preservation and care of the water.Este artículo fue generado como producto de un estudio doctoral y su propósito consistió en describir la importancia de los proyectos de Investigación-Desarrollo-Innovación-Emprendimiento (I+D+i+e) como mecanismos de investigación y desarrollo para rescatar los valores y tradiciones de los pueblos ancestrales hacia un manejo integral de las fuentes hídricas. Se hizo uso de la investigación documental examinando obras de otros autores y postulados teóricos relacionados con el tema. Así mismo, se realizó un tipo investigación descriptiva. El análisis de contenido y la hermenéutica se constituyeron como procesos para el análisis de los datos e informaciones. Los resultados evidenciaron que existen varios tipos de proyectos innovadores que surgen de ideas para buscar solucionar un problema, mejorar un producto o servicio. Por ello, se destacó el proyecto innovador ecológico que busca desarrollar conocimientos comprometidos con la preservación del patrimonio natural medio ambiental.
