The study was developed under the methodology of a quantitative research, with an experimental design (quasi-experimental) with a population of 546 students and a non-probabilistic sample of 103, corresponding to educational institutions: Isaac Newton and Von Neumann:experimental group and control group, with 54 and 49 students, respectively. The application of the proposal was executed through twelve workshop sessions through school mediation, whose information from the pre and post-test was collected using instruments: survey questionnaire, literary comprehension practice and the rubric; and they were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics, the results of which show a 13% progress in literary training. The hypothesis test indicates, for its part, that school mediation positively influences the training of literary readers of secondary school students with a significance level of ρt (0.05), t= -9.76El propósito de la presente investigación fue identificar la efectividad de la mediación escolar en la formación de lectores literarios, como propuesta para mejorar la práctica cultural de lectura literaria en estudiantes de educación secundaria. Esta propuesta es relevante porque responde a la crisis de lectura, que es un problema sociocultural de amplio espectro y que se manifiesta, en los estudiantes de educación secundaria, en bajos desempeños de lectura y que repercute, desde luego, en el desarrollo de la  competencia lectora y la formación ciudadana. El estudio se desarrolló bajo la metodología de una investigación cuantitativa, con diseño experimental (cuasiexperimental) con una población de 546 estudiantes y una muestra no probabilística de 103,  correspondientes a las instituciones educativas: Isaac Newton y Von Neumann: grupo experimental y grupo control, con 54 y 49 estudiantes, respectivamente. La aplicación de la propuesta se ejecutó mediante doce sesiones-taller a través de la mediación escolar, cuya información del pre y postest, se recogió mediante instrumentos: cuestionario de encuesta, práctica de comprensión literaria y la rúbrica; y se analizaron a través de la estadística descriptiva e inferencial, cuyos resultados muestran un progreso de 13% en la formación literaria.
