Based on the evaluations carried out between 1983 and 1987 by the authors, this work has been prepared updating the information to the present in the area. The objective is to demonstrate that the "avocado fruit borer" Stenoma catenifer Walsimgham remained as a potential pest due to the existence of a natural control by native parasitoids. The method was to record the abundance, importance, damage, alternate hosts, and associated natural enemies; based on periodic monthly collections of insects in avocado plantations and in the herbaceous vegetation of cultivation and rearing in the laboratory, recording the pest species and natural control insects. It is concluded that this pest S. catenifer presented different degrees of preference for fruits according to the cultivars evaluated and two species of parasitoids that alternated their abundances during the campaign. These parasitoids maintained a biological control of ± 70% on the avocado fruits, and the farmers were not economically affected; thus, it could be considered to leave this pest species in the category of potential. Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molinaa La Molina (UNALM)2023-07-24info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.lamolina.edu.pe/index.php/eau/article/view/86010.21704/rea.v22i1.860Ecología Aplicada; Vol. 22 No. 1 (2023): January to July; 27-34Ecología Aplicada; Vol. 22 Núm. 1 (2023): Enero a Julio; 27-34Ecología Aplicada; Vol. 22 N.º 1 (2023): Janeiro a Julho; 27-341993-95071726-2216reponame:Revistas - Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molinainstname:Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molinainstacron:UNALMspahttps://revistas.lamolina.edu.pe/index.php/eau/article/view/860/2721Derechos de autor 2023 Germán Arellano Cruz, Clorinda Vergara Cobianhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessoai:revistas.lamolina.edu.pe:article/8602023-08-01T18:30:01Z
