description The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social skills in adolescents from San Miguelito-Píllaro, Ecuador. The research has a non-experimental and quantitative design with a correlational scope and cross-sectional approach. Evaluation instruments included the Rosenberg self-esteem scale and the Goldstein social skills scale. A total of 220 adolescents participated, 55% (121) females and 45% (99) males aged 15 to 18. The findings indicate that levels of self-esteem are generally high, while social skills levels are mainly medium and high. Regarding gender based analysis, no significant differences were found in either variable. Furthermore, a significant positive correlation was observed between self-esteem and social skills levels, as well as between self-esteem and different types of social skills. It has been proven that higher levels of self-esteem are associated with higher levels of social skills, and vice versa.

La investigación posee un diseño no experimental, modalidad cuantitativa, alcance correlacional y corte transversal. Los instrumentos de evaluación fueron la escala de autoestima de Rosenberg y la escala de habilidades sociales de Goldstein. Participaron 220 adolescentes 55% (121) mujeres y el 45% (99) hombres) de entre 15 a 18 años. Se demostró que el nivel de autoestima es alto, mientras que el nivel de habilidades sociales es principalmente medio y alto. En cuento al sexo no se encontró diferencias significativas en ninguna de las dos variables. También, se evidenció una correlación significativa positiva entre el nivel de autoestima y el nivel en habilidades sociales, y los diferentes tipos de habilidades sociales; demostró que a mayor nivel de autoestima mayor será el nivel de habilidades sociales y viceversa.O objetivo desta pesquisa foi determinar a relação da autoestima e as habilidades sociais nos adolescentes da cidade “San Miguelito -Píllaro”, EC. Esta investigação tem um formato não experimental, de modalidade quantitativa, alcance para correlacionar e de corte transversal. Os testes aplicados foram a escala de autoestima de Rosenberg, e a -escala de habilidades sociais de Goldstein.Participaram 220 adolescentes 55%(121) mulheres e o 45%(99) homens entre as idades de 15 a 18 anos. Se apresentou que o nível de autoestima é alto, enquanto o nivel de habilidades sociais é médio alto. Quanto ao sexo, não foi encontrada diferenças significativas em nenhuma das variáveis.
