Before the publication, the following ethical misconducts were found: conflicts of interest not declared by the authors, undeserved or insufficient authorship, salami slicing, plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication, manipulation or impossibility of data replication, and parallel submission of articles. During the process of publication: conflicts of interest in peer review, false peer reviewers, theft of the manuscript by peer reviewers, content mishandling and undeserved authorship following peer review. After the publication: alteration of the impact factor. Next, we analyze the consequences of ethical misconducts for both authors and journals. Finally, we offer some alternatives to fight against these misconducts in the process of scientific publication to foster ethical integrity El propósito de este artículo es ampliar una taxonomía de las faltas éticas más frecuentes actualmente en las publicaciones científicas. Se introducen unos ejemplos sobre el fraude versus la buena conducta ética en las investigaciones y las publicaciones que de ellas se desprenden. Luego se presenta la clasificación en los diferentes momentos: antes, durante y después de la publicación. Antes del proceso se encuentran las siguientes faltas éticas: el conflicto de interés no declarado de los autores, la autoría inmerecida o insuficiente, el salami slicing, el plagio, el autoplagio, la fabricación, manipulación o imposibilidad de replicar los datos, y el sometimiento paralelo de artículos. Durante el proceso: el conflicto de intereses en la revisión de pares, pares falsos o el robo del manuscrito por parte de los pares, la manipulación indebida de contenidos y la autoría inmerecida posterior a la revisión de pares. Después del proceso: la alteración del factor de impacto. Se cierra el artículo con el análisis de las consecuencias de las faltas éticas tanto para los autores como para las revistas.
