description This review article analyzes the digital competencies of teachers and their implication on teacher performance in Latin America in the face of the remote education modality due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The qualitative methodology used contemplates a documentary research design, resorting to the systematic review of different national and international bibliographic sources, such as normative documents, reports, scientific articles, books and organizational websites. The scientific articles reviewed are indexed in reliable databases such as Web of Science (ESCI), Scielo, Latindex. Among the main results we have that in the peruvian context about 60% of teachers have difficulties in the management of digital competencies, affecting a basic level in the creation and design of educational resources with ICT intermediation. It is concluded that teachers have difficulties in the development and application of digital competencies, which leads to poor performance in the current requirement to provide educational services remotely, needing to be trained and updated in these skills to improve the quality of education.

La metodología cualitativa utilizada contempla un diseño de investigación documental, recurriendo a la revisión sistemática de diferentes fuentes bibliográficas nacionales e internacionales, como documentos normativos, informes, artículos científicos, libros y páginas web organizacionales. Los artículos científicos revisados están indexados en bases de datos confiables como la Web Of Science (ESCI), Scielo, Latindex. Entre los principales resultados tenemos que en el contexto peruano alrededor del 60 % de docentes presenta dificultades en el manejo de las competencias digitales, incidiendo en un nivel básico en la creación y diseño de recursos educativos con intermediación de las TIC. Se concluye que los docentes tienen dificultades en el desarrollo y aplicación de las competencias digitales; lo cual conduce a un desempeño deficiente frente al actual requerimiento de brindar el servicio educativo de forma remota, necesitando ser capacitados y actualizados en dichas competencias para mejorar la calidad educativa.Este artigo de revisão analisa as competências digitais dos professores e suas implicações para o desempenho do ensino na América Latina em face da modalidade de educação à distância devido à pandemia COVID-19. A metodologia qualitativa utilizada contempla um projeto de pesquisa documental, recorrendo à revisão sistemática de diferentes fontes bibliográficas nacionais e internacionais, tais como documentos normativos, relatórios, artigos científicos, livros e sites organizacionais. Os artigos científicos analisados são indexados em bancos de dados confiáveis, como Web Of Science (ESCI), Scielo, Latindex. Entre os principais resultados temos que no contexto peruano cerca de 60% dos professores têm dificuldades na gestão de competências digitais, afetando um nível básico na criação e desenho de recursos educacionais com intermediação de TIC.
