The objective of the research was to propose an educational program to improve environmental awareness in children at the initial level. A qualitative methodology was determined by interviewing teachers and directors, whose perceptions were optimally triangulated. The results showed that there is a need to promote the development of the cognitive, affective, active and conative dimensionality of children at the initial level, who develop in a neglected and abandoned environment. It was concluded that the formulation of proposals with pedagogical intention allows the development of valid attitudes and knowledge; The proposal of various environmental educational activities positively improves the behavior of children in promoting the care and preservation of the environment where they operate daily.La contaminación y el deterioro ambiental se han convertido en la mayor problemática del mundo contemporáneo y constituye el referente temático para ser abordado por el ámbito educativo. El objetivo de la investigación consistió en proponer un programa educacional para mejorar la conciencia ambiental en niños del nivel inicial. Se determinó una metodología cualitativa, entrevistando a docentes y directivos, cuyas percepciones fueron trianguladas de forma óptima. Los resultados evidenciaron que existe la necesidad de fomentar el desarrollo de las dimensiones cognitiva, afectiva, activa y conativa de los niños del nivel inicial, quienes se desenvuelven en un ambiente descuidado y abandonado. Se concluyó que la formulación de propuestas con intencionalidad pedagógica permite desarrollar actitudes y saberes valederos; la propuesta de las diversas actividades educativas ambientales mejora de forma positiva en el comportamiento de los niños en fomentar el cuidado y preservación del ambiente donde se desenvuelve a diario.
