The sample consisted of 2240 students of the third, fourth and fifth secondary 8 regions of the country. This research is descriptive - comparative, with a non-cross experimental design. The instrument applied was the scale of satisfaction with life SWLS described by Diener (1995), adapted by Martínez (2004). To validate the scale of life satisfaction was performed by internal consistency, item analysis through correlation Item - corrected test and internal consistency through reliability coefficient Cronbach’s alpha obtaining the 0.796, which is aceptable. The results were evidenced that the sample evidence a high level of satisfaction with life (30.1 %), second is the average level (25.9 %) and 18.9 % of high satisfaction with life.La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo describir los niveles de satisfacción con la vida en los escolares de Lima Metropolitana y algunas provincias, considerando variables sociodemográficas, tales como sexo, edad, grado de instrucción, tipos de familia, nivel de ingreso de la familia, rendimiento académico y consumo de drogas. La muestra estuvo constituida por 2240 escolares del tercero, cuarto y quinto de secundaria de 8 regiones del país. El estudio es de tipo descriptivo-comparativo, con un diseño noexperimental transversal. El instrumento aplicado fue la escala de satisfacción con la vida SWLS, descrito por Diener (1955), adaptada por Martínez (2004). Para la validación de la escala de satisfacción por la vida, se realizó mediante consistencia interna, el análisis de ítems a través de la correlación ítem-test corregida y del coeficiente de confiabilidad Alfa de Cronbach; obteniendo 0,796 (cifra aceptable). Los resultados evidenciados en la muestra fueron los siguientes: un nivel alto de satisfacción con la vida de 30,1 % y un nivel medio de 25,9 %.
