The edition of this document, which contains the reports that the priests of the Cuzco diocese wrote between the years 1689-90, under the orders of Bishop Manuel de Mollinedo, opens new tracks for research, and highlights the importance of the use of ecclesiastical sources. .Pocas veces nos detenemos a pensar en la iglesia como una institución cuyo poder e importancia son indiscutibles en la vida social y económica durante el periodo colonial. El recurso a los documentos producidos por la iglesia ha sido más bien esporádicos en nuestra historiografía, y son aún escasos los intentos por utilizarlos.
