The plurality of aspects of language justifies the multiple treatments that we can make of it. The extraordinary success of linguistics in recent decades was fundamentally due to advances in the rigorous description of the structures and procedures of languages ​​taken as autonomous systems.El lenguaje, actividad creadora, nos abre a lo desconocido y hace posible la relación diagonal con el otro. El lenguaje define algo esencial del ser humano; es su "fuego de cada día", para decirlo con una imagen de Octavio Paz. El lenguaje es, a la vez, facultad humana y saber cultural; por ello precisa de signos y mecanismos socialmente constituidos, Tributarios de una tradición histórica.
