Usually it is 8 or 10 mm below the upper narrow pelvis and 1 or 2 cms. above and ahead of the piriformis; its shape is ovoid, somewhat flattened, and their size varies according to age and physiological status of women. All these anatomical features make inaccessible organ ovary and many pathological spring further from the viewpoint of malignancies surprises.El ovario por ser glándula genital, representa el órgano esencial de la mujer y como es de nuestro conocimiento, está situado en la cavidad rectouterina, sobre las partes laterales de la excavación pelviana, delante del recto y detrás de los ligamentos anchos y de las trompas, sitio al cual llegaron al noveno mes de gestación. Habitualmente se encuentra a 8 ó 10 mms por debajo del estrecho superior de la pelvis y a 1 ó 2 cms. por encima y por delante del músculo piramidal; su forma es ovoidea, algo aplanada, y su tamaño, variable según la edad y el estado fisiológico de la mujer.
