Factors leading to infertility are not clearly understood; nevertheless, several studies aim to variations in apolipoprotein levels in folicular fluid and serum variations of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). According to researchers in clues to infertility, variations in apolipoprotein and FSH levels and number of embryos transferred may be used as standards in order to obtain better results with assisted reproduction.La maternidad, hoy en día, tiende a ser desplazada hacia los últimos años de la vida reproductiva. No obstante, muchas mujeres no son conscientes de que su tasa de fertilidad disminuye drásticamente con el tiempo en los últimos años de edad fértil. Cuando las parejas no logran un embarazo a término, recurren a las técnicas de reproducción asistida; estas llegan a ser aún más costosas cuando la edad de la pareja es mayor. Los factores que conllevan a la infertilidad aún no son conocidas con claridad; sin embargo, varios estudios apuntan a variaciones en los niveles de apolipoproteínas en el líquido folicular y a la variación en los niveles de la hormona folículo estimulante (FSH).
