Peru has the same number of maternal deaths to date as in 2012(2). There has been a considerable delay in the goal of reducing maternal mortality, in order to comply with the Millennium Development Goals(3). The explanation for this adverse situation is the COVID-19 infection, which has plagued the world since the beginning of 2020.Se ha estimado la razón de mortalidad materna (MM) en Perú para el año 2020 en 81,6 por 100 mil nacidos vivos, alejándose negativamente de la curva descendente de muertes maternas que de 114,2 por 100 mil nacidos vivos el año 2004 había disminuido a 55,1 por 100 mil NV en 2019(1). Perú tiene a la fecha el mismo número de casos de muerte materna que en el 2012(2). Ha habido un considerable atraso en el objetivo de reducción de la mortalidad materna, para conformar con los Objetivos de Desarrollo del Milenio(3).
