Four were classified as AIDS and sixteen as HIV+. Fourteen mothers were bettween 21 and 30 years old (70%) and four between 16 and 20 years (20%). Single mothers represent 35%. Secondary students or some with any year of high school total 95%, 20% of them began sexual activity before 15 years, 45% were pregnancy the first time. Twelve pregnant women (60%) bad an adequate prenatal care, they received zidovudine (AZT) during 10,7 weeks in average, giving hirth eight of them by elective cesarean section (5 arrived to the obstetric room with complete dilatation). Three patients presented condiloma acuminata (15%). Only six quantified CD 4+ Tlymphocytes, presenting four cases levels below 200 cel/μL (2 with AIDS and prenatal care). There were no preterm deliveries nor puerperal complications. All 20 newborns were between 37 and 41 weeks of gestational age, with 15% of them (3) small for gestational age. Up to october 1998, 2 children (10%) were seroreverted (2 motbers with prenatal care who received AZT).OBJETIVO: Presentar las primeras experiencias de gestantes VIH+ asistidas en el Hospital Loayza entre 1996 y 1997. MATERIAL: Estudio retrospectivo de 20 mujeres gestantes VIH+. RESULTADOS: La incidencia promedio del bienio fue 0,18% aumentando en casi 50% de un año a otro(0,15% a 0,22% 1997). Cuatro fueron catalogadas como sidosas y dieciséis como seropositivas. Catorce madres, tenían edad entre 21 y 30 años (70%) y cuatro de 16 a 20 años (20%). Madres solteras representaron el35%. La instruccíón superior y algún grado de secundaria abarcó el 9,5%. El 20% inició actividad sexual antes de los 15 años; 45% fueron primíparas. Doce gestantes (60%) tuvieron adecuado control prenatal y recibieron zidovudina (AZT) durante 10,7 semanas (promedio), alumbrando ocho de cesárea electiva (4 restantes llegaron en expulsivo). Tres presentaron condilomas acuminados (15%). Sólo seis cuantificaron linfocitos T CD4+ observándose niveles menores de 200 cel/μL (2 con SIDA, controladas en 4). No se presentaron partos pretérmino ni complicaciones puerperales. Los 20 neonatos tenían entre 37y 41 semanas por edad gestacional, siendo 15% (3) pequeños para edad gestacional.
