All authors agree that the method achieves the best results when it is applied to the pelvic area.La utilidad del citodiagnóstico en la práctica médica, es tema que ya no se discute; abundante literatura acumulada en la cuarta y quinta décadas de este siglo, ha demostrado la exactitud del método y ha probado también que el citodiagnóstico ofrece posibilidades diferentes, según cual sea el territorio del organismo en el cual se lo aplica o el tipo de secreción o exudado que se examina.
