In the first place, the evolution of the concept of sustainable development is analyzed through the study of the different United Nations Conferences on Enviroment and Development (Earth Summits); as well as some treaties that contain elements of the concept. This allows us to deduce that sustainable development has been incorporated as a principle in different areas of international law. Second, climate change is examined in light of the Climate Change Convention, the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement and the SDGs, focusing on the principles related to sustainable development. El presente articulo tiene como objeto de estudio la relación entre el principio del desarrollo sostenible en el derecho internacional y el cambio climático. En primer lugar, se analiza la evolución del concepto de desarrollo sostenible mediante el estudio de las distintas conferencias de las Naciones Unidas sobre Medio ambiente y Desarrollo (Cumbres de la Tierra); así como algunos tratados que contienen elementos del concepto. Esto nos permite deducir que el desarrollo sostenible se ha incorporado como un principio en distintas áreas del derecho internacional. En segundo lugar, se examina el cambio climático a la luz de la Convención sobre Cambio Climático, el Protocolo de Kioto, el Acuerdo de París y los ODS, enfocándonos en los principios relacionados con el desarrollo sostenible.
