Sumario:Obstetric patients have long been a marginalized population in terms of pharmacological medical advances due to ethical restrictions that limit their participation in clinical trials. The variability in the response of patients to medications, which manifests itself more markedly during pregnancy, led to a greater perception of risk during this period. A notable example is the case of betamethasone, used to promote fetal maturation in cases of early premature birth; However, the effects are not uniform in all fetuses treated and genetic variations that may influence the success of this intervention have been identified.
