Sumario: | COVID-19, the coronavirus disease declared by the WHO as a pandemic on March 11, 2020, is having a great impact worldwide, not only economic and social but also a considerable impact on public health and specifically on the sexual and reproductive health (SRH). In Peru and throughout the world, although the immediate need from the health sector and from current governments is to stop and prevent the spread of the pandemic, it is also important to consider that there are essential services that cannot be stopped, such as those of SRH, above all those aimed at care during pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium that have a special care and treatment mechanism in order to prevent morbidity and mortality in this vulnerable population. Equally; family planning services, prenatal and postnatal consultations, STD consultations, provision of antiretrovirals for patients with HIV and care in cases of sexual violence; they are being seriously affected throughout the world, causing an interruption, restriction and lack of continuity of these services; that they can take sanitary measures in this regard, can have negative consequences in the medium and long term, which will increase the social, economic and health costs, include maternal and neonatal deaths, unwanted pregnancies and interruptions, transmission of STDs. In this sense, it is essential to generate health strategies in SRH, in order to cover the needs of this population and maintain the continuity of these services during the pandemic. Human Rights. |
