Method. 13 students from the psychology degree of a Mexican public university participated. Two instruments were applied before and after the intervention to compare the values of the variables studied. The workshopcourse consisted of promoting the use of reading strategies linked to specific levels of understanding: literal, information reorganization, inferential, critical and appreciative. Results. There were increases in reading comprehension, use of strategies and motivation towards reading. The results are discussed taking into account the percentages of student performance, the size of the effect of the intervention and the results of the statistical analyses.La comprensión lectora es una competencia que puede desarrollarse formalmente en la institución educativa. Objetivo: Implementar un curso-taller para valorar sus efectos sobre comprensión lectora, uso de estrategias y motivación por la lectura. Método. Participaron 13 alumnos de la carrera de psicología de una universidad pública mexicana. Antes y después de la intervención se aplicaron dos instrumentos para comparar los valores de las variables estudiadas. El curso-taller consistió en promover el uso de estrategias lectoras vinculadas a niveles específicos de comprensión: literal, reorganización de información, inferencial, crítico y apreciativo. Resultados. Se observaron incrementos en comprensión lectora, uso de estrategias y motivación hacia la lectura. Se discuten los resultados tomando en cuenta los porcentajes de desempeño de los alumnos, el tamaño del efecto de la intervención y los resultados estadísticos.A compreensão de leitura é uma competência que pode ser formalmente desenvolvida na instituição educacional. Objetivo. Implemente um workshop para avaliar seus efeitos na compreensão da leitura, uso de estratégias e motivação para a leitura. Método. Treze estudantes do curso de psicologia de uma universidade pública mexicana participaram. Antes e após a intervenção, dois instrumentos foram aplicados para comparar os valores das variáveis estudadas. O curso-workshop consistiu em promover o uso de estratégias de leitura vinculadas a níveis específicos de entendimento: literal, reorganização da informação, inferencial, crítica e apreciativa. Resultados. Foram observados aumentos na compreensão da leitura, uso de estratégias e motivação para a leitura.
