Una oligarquía de familias acaudaladas influyó en la política peruana prácticamente en forma continua desde 1895 hasta 1968. Aun cuando no lograron dominar, los oligarcas ejercieron un fuerte poder de veto. Este trabajo examina la perdurabilidad de este poder oligárquico desde la perspectiva de la teoría clásica sobre élites.
