The instruments IDER, STAI, ACE and the Family Satisfaction Scale were used. Normal levels of depression and family satisfaction were reported; however, 35% of the participants presented elevated scores of state depression and 29% of trait depression. High scores in state anxiety (69,9%) and trait anxiety (74,2%) were reported, and with respect to adverse childhood situations, 37,8% of the participants reported experiencing more than one of the listed situations. A relationship was identified between these emotional states, adverse childhood experiences and the influence of socio-economic status on family satisfaction. These findings suggest the importance of addressing mental health in the university setting. |

Se emplearon los instrumentos IDER, STAI, ACE y la Escala de Satisfacción Familiar. Se reportaron niveles normales de depresión y satisfacción familiar, sin embargo, se destaca que un 35% de los participantes presentaron puntuaciones elevadas de depresión estado y un 29% de depresión rasgo. Se reportaron puntuaciones elevadas en ansiedad estado (69,9%) como rasgo (74,2%) y con respecto a las situaciones adversas en la infancia, un 37,8% de los participantes reportaron experimentar más de una de las enlistadas. Se identificó una relación entre los estos estados emocionales, experiencias adversas infantiles y la influencia del estrato socioeconómico en la satisfacción familiar. Estos hallazgos sugieren la importancia de abordar la salud mental en el ámbito universitario.Cette étude adopte une conception corrélationnelle descriptive pour examiner la relation entre les niveaux d’anxiété et de dépression, les expériences défavorables de l’enfance et la satisfaction familiale chez 304 étudiants universitaires de différents programmes. Les instruments IDER, STAI, ACE et la Family Satisfaction Scale ont été utilisés. Des niveaux normaux de dépression et de satisfaction familiale ont été signalés, mais il convient de noter que 35 % des participants présentaient des scores élevés de dépression d’état et 29 % des scores élevés de dépression de trait. Des scores élevés ont été enregistrés pour l’anxiété d’état (69,9 %) et l’anxiété de trait (74,2 %), et en ce qui concerne les situations défavorables de l’enfance, 37,8 % des participants ont déclaré avoir vécu plus d’une des situations énumérées. Une relation a été identifiée entre ces états émotionnels, les expériences négatives vécues pendant l’enfance et l’influence du statut socio-économique sur la satisfaction familiale. Ces résultats suggèrent qu’il est important d’aborder la question de la santé mentale dans le cadre universitaire.Este estudo adota um desenho correlacional descritivo para examinar a inter-relação entre níveis de ansiedade e depressão, experiências adversas na infância e satisfação familiar em 304 estudantes universitários de diferentes programas. Foram utilizados os instrumentos IDER, IDATE, ACE e Escala de Satisfação Familiar. Foram registados níveis normais de depressão e de satisfação familiar, no entanto, é de salientar que 35% dos participantes apresentaram valores elevados de depressão de estado e 29% de depressão de traço. Foram registadas pontuações elevadas tanto para a ansiedade de estado (69,9%) como para a ansiedade de traço (74,2%) e, no que diz respeito às situações adversas da infância, 37,8% dos participantes referiram ter vivido mais do que uma das situações listadas. Foi identificada uma relação entre estes estados emocionais, as experiências adversas na infância e a influência do estatuto socioeconómico na satisfação familiar.
