The study can help to better understand this economy and social activity today.El texto desarrolla, en el marco de la construcción de la actividad turística, cómo ella se organizó y el rol que tuvieron las instancias involucradas, revisando la literatura al respecto. Se concluye que el turismo como sector económico se construyó a partir de diversos hechos globales y locales que afectaron a la demanda y oferta, entre los que destacaba la naturaleza de la cadena empresarial formada. También se delimitan los problemas que la han afectado y afectan.
