Relative clauses observed in these languages show that they are nominalized or non-nominalized. Comparative evidences available for the analysis reveals that the relativizers or subordinators observed in at least three of the languages come from demonstrative elements, and that genitive subjects, one of the main properties of clausal nominalizations are disappearing in two of the languages. This fact implies a diachronic change to finite constructions.Este trabajo representa una contribución tipológica al analizar las cláusulas relativas en lenguas yuto-aztecas habladas durante centurias en el área geográfica de la Sierra Tarahumara en el noroeste mexicano (pima bajo, tepehuano del norte, tarahumara y guarijío, aunque por fines comparativos también se alude al yaqui). Las cláusulas relativas que se encuentran en estas lenguas son nominalizadas o no-nominalizadas. Las evidencias comparativas demuestran que los relativizadores o subordinantes presentes en al menos tres de estas lenguas tuvieron su origen en elementos demostrativos y que los sujetos genitivos, rasgo de la nominalización clausal, están por desaparecer en dos de estas lenguas.
