In this way, it was possible to establish categories such as the mixture of heterogeneous elements, the degradation of environments, animalization, and the dreamlike. Furthermore, it can also be noted that these resources acquire greater relevance when, as the distorted reality advances, there is the possibility of something promising, which could be called an utopian function.El presente artículo intenta demostrar que en la novela Fabla salvaje (1923) se evidencia lo grotesco como principal recurso para alegorizar el proceso de degradación del protagonista: Balta Espinar. Se toman como base, principalmente, los estudios de crítica planteados por Kayser (1957) y Bajtín (1987), quienes fueron los principales teóricos de esta estética en el siglo XX. De este modo, se pudieron establecer categorías como la mezcla de elementos heterogéneos, la degradación de los ambientes, la animalización y lo onírico.
