This reality leads us to reflect on the need to incorporate interculturality as a transversal content in higher education, reflections that emerge from the context of the Puno region, where according to the information of the censuses of 2017, most of its population is self-identified with an original town and where at least half of the students in higher education come from homes of quechua or aimara origin. The challenge that arises is to build a university with the quality standards that the international academy demands, without distancing us from our academy demands, without distancing us from the surrounding multicultural reality.La interculturalidad, como enfoque educativo, está incluido en los documentos directrices del sistema educativo peruano (Ley General de Educación 28044 y Currículo Nacional de la Educación Básica) (Minedu, 2017); sin embargo, en las estructuras curriculares de las universidades nacionales y privadas es ignorado, lo que ha generado un desfase entre la educación básica regular y la educación superior. Esta realidad nos lleva a reflexionar sobre la necesidad de incorporar la interculturalidad como contenido transversal en la educación superior, reflexiones que surgen a partir del contexto de la región Puno, donde según la información de los censos de 2017, la mayor parte de su población se autoidentifica con un pueblo originario y al menos la mitad de los estudiantes de educación superior proceden de hogares de origen quechua o aimara. El desafío que se plantea en el ensayo es construir una universidad con los estándares de calidad que la academia internacional demanda, sin alejarnos de nuestra realidad multicultural.A interculturalidade como abordagem educacional está incluída nas diretrizes do sistema educacional peruano (Lei de Educação Geral 28044 e Currículo Nacional de Educação Básica); no entanto, nas estruturas curriculares das universidades nacionais e privadas, é ignorado, gerando uma deslocação entre a educação básica regular e o ensino superior. Esta realidade nos leva a refletir sobre a necessidade de incorporar a interculturalidade como conteúdo transversal no ensino superior, reflexões que emergem do contexto da região de Puno, onde, de acordo com as informações dos censos de 2017, a maioria da população se identifica com um povo originário e pelo menos metade dos estudantes da educação superior vem de lares de origem quechua ou aimara.
