Un estudio de resentimiento en ancianos institucionalizados

The present study describes an investigation carried out by the Psychological Services of the National Mental Health lnstitute "Honorio Delgado-Hideyo Noguchi" and ofthe "lgnacia Rodolfa Vda. de Canevaro" Home, where an approach to the psychological behaviour of the established senior citizens is tried. This psychological behaviour shows, besides others, feelings of frustration, resentment and failure. They try to determine the Jevel of resentment present in the established senior citizens taking into account variables such as housing conditions (socio-economic status). sex, age, marital status, educational level, labour activity, presence or abscnce of children, and time of residence in the asylum. For this, a sample of 53 senior citizens was evaluated, 32 females and 21 males; 18 of a high socio-economic status and 35 of thc Iower level, through an lnventory of Attitudes toward Life. lt was found that those with a low socio-economic leve) show a higher degree of resentment than the other group and males show more resentment than females.
