In this context, the State uses the Public Private Partnerships, in order to be able to solve the problem derived from the need to execute socially profitable projects but not economically. The author will develop the concepts of co-financing and co-financed PPPs; as well as presenting practical cases of this method of financing public services and infrastructure projects.La evolución del rol del Estado en la economía encuentra su expresión más significativa en el nuevo rol garantista y regulador que ha tomado frente al antiguo papel prestatario e intervencionista que le caracterizaba. En este contexto, el Estado recurre al uso de las asociaciones público-privadas, a fin de poder solucionar el problema derivado de la necesidad de ejecutar proyectos rentables socialmente pero no económicamente.
