In terms of the use of English as a second language, Peru ranks 58th out of 100 countries. The results are expected to be different when Spanish speakers in the EBR participate for the first time in the PISA 2025 Foreign Language Assessment Framework. It is for this reason that the present study, with a quantitative approach and a quasi-experimental design, proposes augmented reality (Mondly AR) as an effective didactic resource that increases the basic vocabulary of those who undertake the difficult task of speaking English. To evaluate the relevance of the proposal, a sample of 120 participants from the Faculty of Humanities of the Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal was selected and divided into two groups: control and experimental. After applying the intervention program, a Mann-Whitney U of 616.000, a Wilcoxon W of 2446.000 and a Z of -6.235 were obtained in the post-test. This, at a significance level of less than 0.05, demonstrates the hypothesis proposed.El inglés es una lengua indoeuropea. Su historia se inicia con la llegada de los invasores germanos a las Islas Británicas (500 a.C). Actualmente, su dominio como lengua hegemónica se ha expandido por todo el mundo. En cuanto al uso del inglés como segunda lengua, Perú ocupa el puesto 58 de 100 países. Se espera que los resultados sean diferentes cuando los hispanohablantes de la EBR participen por primera vez del Marco de Evaluación de Lengua Extranjera PISA 2025. Es por esta razón, que el presente estudio de enfoque cuantitativo y diseño cuasi experimental, propone a la realidad aumentada (Mondly AR) como un recurso didáctico efectivo que incrementa el vocabulario básico de quienes emprenden la difícil tarea de hablar inglés. Para evaluar la pertinencia de la propuesta se seleccionó una muestra de 120 participantes de la Facultad de Humanidades de la Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal los cuales fueron divididos en dos grupos: control y experimental. Luego de aplicar el programa de intervención se obtuvo, en el post-test, un U de Mann-Whitney de 616,000, un W de Wilcoxon de 2446,000 y un Z de -6,235.
