The methodology used was the exploratory documentary, which describes the succession of the capitalist state and the perspectives of development consisting of a systematic review of documents and bibliography, for the selection of sources and bibliographic analysis the bibliographic record was used. The results of the study present the opinions and discussion of researchers in relation to the capitalist state and its functions for sustainable social development. It is concluded that the capitalist state and the perspectives of development are optimal, although there are advantages and disadvantages.Este artículo tuvo como objetivo analizar e interpretar referentes teóricos, de artículos, revistas, repositorios acerca del estado capitalista y cómo éste determina en las perspectivas de desarrollo de la sociedad civil a la que representa. La metodología utilizada fue el exploratorio-documental, que describe la sucesión del estado capitalista y las perspectivas del desarrollo que consiste en una revisión sistemática de documentos y bibliografía, para la selección de fuentes y análisis bibliográfico se utilizó la ficha bibliográfica. Los resultados del estudio presentan las opiniones y discusión de investigadores en relación del estado capitalista y sus funciones para el desarrollo social sostenible.
