Thirteen (13) were males and eight (08) were females. Males’ average age was 43.54 and females’ was 56.75. The advantages of using movies in the courses of medicine and health sciences PhD programs were evaluated with a four-part questionnaire, out of which three (03) parts collected quantitative data (in scale from 1 to 10) and one (01) obtained qualitative data. Results: The average score of the answers of the first part (watching movies before classwork) was 9.60, the average score of the second part (classwork) was 9.67 and the average score of the third part (final result) was 9.48. Eight (08) PhD students voluntarily participated in the qualitative phase. Conclusions: Using movies proved to have great value in the teaching-learning process, because it not only enabled a better understanding of the courses’ topics but also played an important role in motivating the students. It is highly recommended to include audiovisual methods in the university teaching-learning process in medicine and health sciences PhD programs. Objetivo: Evaluar las ventajas del uso del cine como herramienta en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en los doctorados de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud. Materiales y métodos: Participaron en el estudio 21 doctorandos, nueve de la Universidad San Martín de Porres (USMP) y doce de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM). Trece fueron varones y ocho mujeres. La edad promedio de los varones fue de 43,54 y el de las mujeres 56,75 años. El uso del cine en los cursos de los doctorados de Medicina y de Ciencias de la Salud se evaluó con un cuestionario que tenía cuatro partes: tres cuantitativas (escala del 1 al 10) y una cualitativa. Resultados: El promedio de valoración a las respuestas de la primera parte (observación de los filmes antes del trabajo en el aula) fue de 9,60; en la segunda (trabajo en el aula) fue 9,67; y en la tercera (resultado final obtenido) de 9,48. Ocho doctorandos participaron voluntariamente en la fase cualitativa. Conclusiones: El uso del cine demostró tener un gran valor en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, porque no solo posibilitó un mayor entendimiento de los temas de los cursos sino también porque cumplió un gran papel en la motivación de los estudiantes. Es altamente recomendable incorporar los métodos audiovisuales en la didáctica universitaria en los doctorados de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud. Universidad de San Martín de Porres.
