Conclude that, despite the fact that the government has been allocating a larger budget to the populations, it has not been posible to significantly reduce these gaps, evidencing the lack of efficiency and effectiveness of the contry’s institutions.El propósito de este artículo es analizar la brecha que existen en el servicio de agua potable y alcantarillado; planteando alternativas para reducirlas, entre la población rural y urbana. Así, haciendo un análisis retrospectivo, el estudio muestra gráficos y cuadros estadísticos donde se observa la evolución de la cobertura de agua y alcantarillado en el ámbito rural y urbano, demostrando una brecha significativa entre estos indicadores.
