Descripción
Sumario:The development of thrombotic complications in COVID-19 appears to be driven by uncontrolled inflammation, and it is clinically different from other conditions such as disseminated intravascular coagulation. The underlying mechanisms seem to be related to endothelial dysfunction and feedback loops between the immune system and the coagulation system. Thrombosis seems more frequent in critically ill patients with COVID-19. This suggest the need for a different management strategy for COVID-19 associated thrombosis. However, clinical trials are necessary to determine the most adequate approach for COVID-19 associated coagulopathy and thrombotic events.
