The characteristics of our sample were: between 18 and 30 years old, 52,5%; male, 66,6%; high scholarity, 88,1%; with partner, 55,5%; employees, 46,6%. We found that 89,3% had adequate knowledgment and poor level of it correlated with low scholarity, older age and to have a partner. We conclude that AIDS prevention campaigns have been effective among adult literate workers and more emphasis on subgroups with low scholarity, older and with a partner is needed. Se realizó una encuesta, prospectiva y transversal, en diferentes centros laborales de Lima Metropolitana de agosto a octubre de 1991, con la finalidad de identificar el nivel de conocimiento, actitudes y factores que originaban un mayor o menor grado de información sobre el SIDA. Se encuestó a 942 adultos, alfabetos y trabajadores, con un cuestionario de 14 preguntas. La muestra tuvo las siguientes características de 18 a 30 años, 52,5%; varones, 66,6%; alta escolaridad, 88,1%; con pareja, 55,6%; empleados, 46,6%. Encontramos que el 83,9% tenía conocimientos ade cuados sobre el SIDA; y que el menor grado de conocimiento correlacionó con baja escolaridad, mayor edad y tener pareja. Se concluye que para los trabajadores adultos las campañas de prevención del SIDA han sido efectivas y que se requiere mayor énfasis en los subgrupos de menor escolaridad, mayor edad y apareados.
