This finding is significant, because it is not only a surface reference to classical sources by Cervantes, but both the narrative structure, themes and the figurative roles that appear in the novel are analogous to those we observe in the classical sources. This allows us to complement and to discuss some of the latest works that has been done on the classical tradition in this Cervantes novel.Mediante un análisis comparativo estudiamos en el capítulo xviii de la primera parte de Don Quijote de la Mancha la presencia de dos tópicos (el catálogo de tropas y la arenga militar) propios de la épica e historiografía grecorromanas. Este hallazgo es significativo, pues no se trata solo de una alusión superficial a las fuentes clásicas por parte de Cervantes, sino que tanto la estructura narrativa como los temas y los roles figurativos que aparecen en la novela son análogos a los que observamos en las fuentes clásicas.
