Descripción
Sumario:The purpose of the research is to know what the contributions of the “School Mediation and Leadership Club” (MEL) project are in a private educational institution in Lima from the perceptions of teachers, managers and secondary school students. For this, the present study was based on concepts such asschool peer mediation, social skills and school leadership. Likewise, it is based on a qualitative approach at a descriptive level. The single case study method was used, because the particularity of the project responds to the prevention of bullying and the training of student mediators via virtual (during the pandemic) and in-person (post-pandemic). In addition, it brings together multiple perspectives of the participants to understand this reality that can be complex from a descriptive analysis. The information was collected through the following instruments: semi-structured interview and documentary analysis. This was organized based on the three categories: project contribution to develop social skills, project contribution to the training of leaders and examining thesuggestions of those involved in relation to the project document. The discussion of the results concluded that the MEL club does develop and strengthen social skills such as empathy, assertiveness and active listening. This is carried out through techniques such as paraphrasing, clarification, case simulation, etc. With respect to leadership, the MEL club contributes partially, as it manages to enhance the trait of cooperative leader and emotional self-control through activities. However, the trait of a reliable leader and a leader with decisionmaking is not evident in the project document, but it is inferred from the statements of the informants that it is partially present in the mediation process.
