El plan estratégico es el resultado de un exhaustivo análisis de los factores externos e internos del sector forestal maderable, que permitieron identificar cuáles eran las principales oportunidades, amenazas, fortalezas, y debilidades del sector. Asimismo, a partir de la elaboración de diferentes matrices, se establecieron las estrategias principales para cumplir con los objetivos a largo plazo y sus correspondientes objetivos a corto plazo, con la finalidad de poder alcanzar la visión trazada. El sector forestal maderable es una industria atractiva con una diversidad de recursos naturales y con un potencial crecimiento para el desarrollo económico del país. Las estrategias propuestas en el planeamiento estratégico se centran en el fortalecimiento del marco jurídico, aprovechamiento de recursos naturales, desarrollo de plantaciones y la gestión de residuos forestales como ventaja competitiva y punto de diferenciación versus sus principales competidores de América Latina (i.e., Brasil y Bolivia) para crecer de manera sostenible, rentable e impulsar el desarrollo del país, con la visión de llegar a ser un referente forestal de América Latina en producción maderable con innovación, desarrollo y tecnología.

The strategic plan is the result of a thorough analysis of external and internal factors of the timber forestry sector, which identify what are the main opportunities, threats, strengths, and weaknesses of the sector. Also, from the development of different matrices, the main strategies to meet long-term goals and their corresponding short-term goals, in order to be able to reach the traced vision. The timber forest industry is an attractive industry with a diversity of natural resources and growth potential for economic development of the country.
